Dave Reardon: UH win over Northern Illinois earlier in season may have played out differently
In the big picture of scheduling, sometimes when you play a game matters a lot. Weʻre not talking time of day here, but time of the season. The University of Hawaii's football team defeated Northern Illinois 56-21, marking their first win in the Mountain West after four losses. Despite the team's poor performance, this was still a conference win and a road win for the Warriors, marking the first of both this season. The team's performance was much improved, with the team scoring the most points against an unnamed 0-7 team compared to power conference teams Iowa (40) and Arizona (42). The Warriors' most recent loss was 18 points at Arizona State. Despite this, the team has a good chance of winning two road games in a row for the first time since 2016. The Warriors’ next home game against North Dakota State will be against UTEP, which they have a bye before the second road game.
