HONOLULU, HI - October 26, 2026ESSADVANTAGE - Black Tie Affair, a men's formal wear specialist based in Kaimuki, Black Tie Affair, a men's formal wear specialist based in Kaimuki, has announced a transition in ownership, with longtime friends Rex Matsuo, Tyson Sakamoto and Jimmy Yi taking over day-to-day operations from Rex Mitsuo's uncle. The change marks a new chapter for Black Tie Affa, which has served the local community since 1988 and operates from the same location for 38 years. The three friends have assumed responsibility for continuing the traditions established over nearly four decades, including one-on-one fittings designed to ensure the right fit for each customer’s special occasion. Black TieAffair provides formal attire for high school orchestra events, proms, banquets, weddings, class reunions and gala events across Oahu.
