Transforming ocean policy at the intersection of science and law
UH Mānoa is launching a new Center for Ocean Policy. The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is launching a new Center for Ocean Policy, a collaboration between Mānnoa’s Department of Oceanography, the William S. Richardson School of Law, and The Healy Foundation. The Center will bring together ocean science and legal expertise to develop solutions to the most pressing ocean and climate challenges facing Hawaiʾi and the world. Students will be able to work at the intersection of science, law, and public policy through clinics, capstone projects, and advocacy initiatives. Since 2020, The Healey Foundation has partnered with Mānona‘s Institute for Sustainability and Resilience to support an annual research assistant position known as The Healys Foundation Climate Change Fellow. In 2024, this partnership will expand to three Fellows. The center will also offer interdisciplinary seminars and launch an annual symposium to address emerging ocean policy issues.
