Letter: Filthy pigeons a pox on Kailua community

My neighborhood is a mess. Not because of trash or homelessness — it’s pigeons. My neighbor feeds these flying rats every day and it is disgusting. This problem has been going on for years and everyone on my street has asked my neighbor various times to stop feeding the birds. However, nothing has changed. The Department of Health has come over to the house several times, but still my neighbor feeds the birds every day. My neighborhood in Kailua, Hawaii, is a mess due to a neighbor's constant feeding of pigeons. The Department of Health has visited the house several times but no action has been taken. The birds create waste all over the street and sidewalk, leading to cleaning. Pigeons carry over 60 human pathogens and it is not appealing to see them all on telephone lines.
