Musk’s Starlink explanation challenged by Texas GOP lawmaker

A Texas Republican lawmaker, Representative Dan Crenshaw, has challenged Tesla CEO Elon Musk's explanation for throttling Ukraine's access to SpaceX’s Starlink satellite terminals, arguing that Ukrainian forces use the system defensively in their war with Russia. Crensh argued that SpaceX”s StarLink was used for “offensive drone strikes to kill people” in Ukraine, a claim that this contradicts Musk’S claim that Ukraine’re military violated Starlink’s terms of service by using it for ‘offensive drone strike’. This comes after a spat between Musk and President Donald Trump erupted after speeds on Starlink and Starshield, the system’d-grade version of the system, were throttled without immediate clarity about who was responsible. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry restored operating speeds to normal and SpaceX‘s CEO’ later stated that his company closed a “loophole” that allowed offensive drone strikes by Ukraine. Censhaw’ve also raised concerns about the lack of alternatives to SpaceX's technology and the potential conflict between Ukraine and the US.
