Flood watch in effect for Hawaii through Wednesday night
A flood watch is in effect for Hawaii through late Wednesday night as a slow-moving weather system brings heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms. A flood watch is in effect for Hawaii from Wednesday night due to a slow-moving weather system bringing heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms. All islands are at risk, with the greatest threat being over Oahu and Maui County. Rain is expected to be spotty this morning and then pick up as very humid air moves in from the southwest. The flood threat should be highest from this evening through Wednesday night. Forecasters predict that heavy rain could cause flooding, causing streams and drainage channels to overflow, roads to close, and property damage from runoff. Highs are expected to remain in the low to mid-80s on most islands throughout the week. The remnants of former Tropical Depression Olana are not expected to affect Hawaii directly.
