HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital following a crash involving two delivery trucks in the Kapolei area Wednesday morning.
It happened just after 8:20 a.m. on Roosevelt Avenue near Kasaan Bay Street.
According to Honolulu police, a 38-year-old man riding a green motorcycle was traveling eastbound on the roadway at a high rate of speed when he overtook a delivery truck driven by a 45-year-old man.
Officials said as the motorcyclist tried to cut off the truck, he drove into the opposite-bound lane and struck another truck driven by a 41-year-old man who traveling westbound on Roosevelt Avenue.
In an effort to avoid the motorcyclist, HPD said the 41-year-old truck driver veered left of the roadway, colliding with the truck driven by the 45-year-old.
Authorities said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Honolulu EMS said he was treated and transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The delivery truck drivers sustained minor injuries and refused further medical treatment at the scene, officials said.
Police said speed appears to be a factor in the crash. At this time, it is unknown if drugs and alcohol were factors.
