EWA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - A gunman is on the run after firing shots at a car on Fort Weaver Road in West Oahu on Tuesday.

The dispute happened inside the Burger King drive-thru in Ewa Beach around 3 p.m. and it was caught on camera.

In the video, it shows a man confront the driver in a white vehicle, which then takes off.

There were about five other people also standing in the drive-thru. One of them chases after the car and fires three gunshots.

Police say there are no reported injuries at this time.

Meanwhile, the ordeal has left neighbors on edge.

“It is disturbing having something like that happen in you know, definitely a family community,” said Rebecca Norden of Ewa Beach.

Rebecca Norden was in her apartment nearby babysitting her sister’s kids when she heard the gunfire.

“I looked outside, I didn’t see anything, I didn’t hear any screaming or anything,” said Rebecca Norden. “So, then I thought, well, maybe I misheard that it was a car backfire.”

It’s unclear what led to the dispute, which was just a stone’s throw from homes and Ilima Middle School.

“We’re always worried now with the uptick and all the violence and everything, but I still thought we were still fairly safe,” said Cynthia Ke of Ewa Beach. “So, it’s really shocking that this would happen here.”

“Shocked and a little upset that they’re shooting or causing problems right here where all the kids are, especially right after school,” said Molly Norden of Ewa Beach.

“This the kind stuff you see the in the continent, you know, you don’t see that here,” said State Sen. Kurt Fevella who represents Ewa Beach.

He said he has been driving around trying to get more information.

“The video is very clear so the person or the persons that is involved, they’re gonna get caught, it’s just when,” said Fevella. “But to me I think if you turn yourself in, regardless of the situation it’s easier for you.”

Anyone with information about this case, is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (808)955-8300.
