MOILIILI (HawaiiNewsNow) - An attempted murder investigation is underway following a shooting in the Moiliili area late Tuesday night.

HPD officers rushed to the scene just after 10 p.m. near the corner of Kaaha Street and Kapiolani Boulevard just after 10 p.m.

Police said prior to the shooting, the victim and the suspect got into a verbal argument.

A witness told HNN they saw at least four to five men chasing a man down the street, before they started hitting him with a “stick-like object.”

Shortly after, witnesses said they reportedly heard a gun go off.

Officials said EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Authorities said the 40-year-old suspect fled the scene and has not yet been located.
