Hawaiʻi Foodbank Free Emergency Meals in Honolulu Oct. 25

Free emergency food for Honolulu families this weekend — no limit per household, but you need to register first. Hawaiʻi Foodbank is giving free, shelf-stable emergency meal packs to Honolulu households as part of a push to stockpile emergency supplies before potential disasters disrupt essential services. The drive-through distribution will take place from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.M.m., with no limit on how many cases a single household can receive. The meals are called Survivor Daily Rations, or SDRs, which require no cooking or refrigeration. Each pouch packs roughly 2,200 calories, enough to sustain one adult for 24 hours. Each case contains 10 individual ration packs, and Hawaiʻa Foodbank recommends households pick up at least one case per family member. The event is only drive-based, and anyone without a vehicle for pickup won't be served. The Foodbank, which serves as the City and County of Honolulu's lead agency for emergency feeding on Oʻahu, distributed 4.4 million pounds of food in August and September.
