Honolulu District 6: Dos Santos-Tam vs Morihara 2026
One incumbent, 61 bills, and a challenger who says Oahu's sewers matter more than campaign ads. Tyler Dos Santos-Tam, a former lobbyist for the state's unionized building and construction industry, is running for four more years on the Honolulu City Council in the Nov. 3 general election for District 6, representing roughly 112,000 residents. Dos SantosTam, who was elected to the council in 2022, claims he introduced 61 bills over his first term, 43 of which became law. His challenger, Corey Morihara, argues that his focus is on Oahu's crumbling pipes underground. If reelected, Dos Santos' priorities include expanding affordable housing, accelerating transit-oriented development planning, growing reduced-fare bus programs, and putting unused city affordable-housing funds to work. Morihara's opponent, Tara Malia, has raised more than $8,000 over the same period.
