HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Thursday released a timeline for removal of three buildings damaged in the 2018 Kilauea eruption.

Officials said crews will dismantle the former Thomas Jaggar Museum and two buildings used by the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory — the Okamura Building and Geochemistry Annex — starting April 8.

The buildings are located on Uekahuna Bluff overlooking the Kilauea caldera.

During this period, the restrooms at Uekahuna will temporarily close, but portable bathrooms will be available.

It’s part of the first phase of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Disaster Recovery Project. The buildings and the ledge they were on were damaged by daily earthquakes during the eruption.
