A female pedestrian died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in Hilo, Big Island police said. A female pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Hilo, Hawaii, according to Big Island police. The victim was hit near the intersection of Kanoelehua Avenue and East Kahaopea Street, but was pronounced dead at 7:25 p.m. The driver, a 39-year-old Pahoa man, was not seriously injured in the crash. Police do not believe speed or inattention may have contributed to the collision.
